Walmart Marketplace Wallet Declined: What to Do Next

A Marketplace Wallet application is reviewed and approved by JPMorgan Chase, not by Walmart. According to a Walmart moderator reply on the Marketplace Learn seller forum, the bank contacts applicants directly by email if it needs more information, and because the bank makes the final decision, Walmart does not handle the reasons for a denial. If your application was declined, the moderator says to choose an alternative payout method in Seller Center under Settings, then Payment Info, so you keep receiving Marketplace payouts. That reply does not say why applications are denied, whether you can appeal, or whether you can reapply, so treat those as unknown.

Who decides, and why Walmart cannot explain it

The Marketplace Wallet is run through a banking partner. In the forum thread this article is based on, a seller reported that their Wallet application was declined, that Walmart Seller Support confirmed JPMorgan Chase makes the final decision, and that Walmart could not give the reason or appeal the result. A Walmart moderator replied in October 2026 that applications are reviewed and approved by JPMorgan Chase, and that because the bank provider determines the final decision, Walmart does not handle denial reasons.

That explains the frustrating experience many sellers describe: Seller Support can confirm the outcome but not explain it. It is a limit of how the program is set up, not necessarily a sign that something is wrong with your Walmart account.

What the moderator says to do

First, watch your email. The moderator says JPMorgan Chase contacts applicants directly by email if additional information is needed during the application process. The seller in the thread said they never received any verification request, so check spam and the address on your application.

Second, make sure you can still be paid. The moderator says that if your application was declined, you should select an alternative payout method in Seller Center, under Settings and then Payment Info, to continue receiving Marketplace payouts. Do this soon: payouts follow the schedule in our guide to when Walmart pays sellers, and a payout method that is not set up cannot receive them.

The thread's original poster also asked whether anyone had contacted the bank directly for a review. The moderator invited other sellers to share their experience but offered no official route for that, so we cannot tell you that contacting the bank will change the result.

What we do not know

The Walmart reply does not list the reasons an application can be denied, does not say whether you can reapply or after how long, and does not name the alternative payout methods available. We also could not find a Walmart-published page covering the Wallet decision process, so confirm the options you see in Seller Center before relying on any specific step.

If a payout method change affects your fees or timing, check the terms shown in Seller Center before you confirm it. Our guide to total selling costs covers the other fees to expect.

Examples

  • A new seller's Wallet application is declined with no explanation, so they open Seller Center, go to Settings and Payment Info, and select an alternative payout method so their first sales are not stuck.
  • A seller who never saw a bank email checks their spam folder and the email address on the application, since the bank is the one that contacts applicants directly.
  • A seller who sells through a partner platform confirms their payout setup in Seller Center before shipping their first orders, so a declined Wallet does not delay their first payment.

Common Mistakes

  • Waiting for Walmart to explain or reverse the decision, when a moderator says the bank decides and Walmart does not handle denial reasons.
  • Leaving payouts unset after a denial instead of choosing an alternative payout method in Seller Center.
  • Assuming you can appeal or reapply, which the Walmart reply does not say.
  • Overlooking the bank's emails, which the moderator says are sent directly to applicants when more information is needed.
